What is a CityPair?

The airline industry introduced in 1930 a three-letter code for each airport. Metropolitan areas with several airports got a "city code". For example, New York's city code is "NYC" and today it is its famous abbreviation.
Airport codes exist for each airfield, for example "JFK" for the John.F.Kennedy airport. Some codes are well known and used by the frequent traveller, some are lesser known, such as "SEX" for a city in Germany and "BIO" for Bilbao in Spain.

If you are travelling NYC-LON, or, more precisely, JFK-LHR. you go from New York to London. We call the itineraries CityPairs, since it pairs the departure city with the arrival city.

Fairquote converted this CityPair concept into location-driven websites. For each itinerary you find a specific CityPair website, alerting you of the best connection, direction and tourism advice.
Type in what you like - codes or city names - and you have all the information you need at your fingertips. You find us in Google or you type it directly into your browser URL - no need to seach.
